Mohair is the wool of the Angora goat.
Kid Mohair is the very fine wool of their young.
Touching this wool is magical: If you let the yarn slide through your fingers, it feels like stroking a pearl necklace. Wonderfully smooth, shiny and simply “pearly” due to the two ply structure.
After the shearing, the wool fibres are sorted, gently cleaned and carded.
We, at mon petit rouet, soak the yarn after spinning just in warm water (without additives) to fix the twist and to let the fibres relax and loosen up.
So that the yarn stays so wonderfully fluffy and voluminous, each skein is wrapped by hand – so that it can wait quite “relaxed” for its further transformation.
